Results and Initiatives
We are striving for continuous improvement when it comes to our work with sustainability.
We still have a long way to go and one of our next steps is to develop more targets for improving different aspects of our operations. We have not set any public targets yet.
In November 2015 our milk filter factory Pelma GMU (global manufacturing unit), Finland, received the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Certificate. The ISO certificate was an outcome of continuous process optimisation over the past three years.
We have however, achieved a number of results. For example:
- Several of our products have won sustainability awards
- 79% of our staff believe that DeLaval is socially and environmentally responsible.
- The number of workplace accidents have decreased.
- Suppliers accounting to 82% of our spend have signed our Ethics and Sustainability Principles
In a bid to improve knowledge-sharing in the industry, we arranged a scientific conference in 2013 on cow comfort solutions and best practices in order to highlight the importance of increased lifetime productivity. In 2014 and in 2015, we have arranged approximately 50 other conferences around the world on the same topic.
